Jesus went through a number of fake trials to convict and crucify Him, and Jesus had the ability and power to call down a legion of angels to put a stop to this series of events. But through this trial, Jesus remained silent.

This would have been an excellent time to put his case forward, to explain to these top officials, but why did Jesus stay silent?
