Pastors must address the news, otherwise the world will set the narrative. Two examples: Alex Jones, and the NS1/2 pipelines.

The purpose of the preacher is to set the narrative and define the issues, not to react to how the world frames the issues.  

The growing "difficulties" are an answer to generations of prayer -- God is forcing His People to make hard choices.  Pastors: lead them!
