Confession is an outward expression of acknowledged sin. In this state, the person seeking salvation admits to the truth that he deserves judgment and pleads with God for mercy.

In Leviticus 5:5, the Bible says that when a person is found guilty of breaking any of the laws, he must confess that he has sinned.
