Pathways of God’s Grace- Solitude:Be Still

Listen Later

In this week’s episode, Haley is joined by Pastors Kevin Wolfe and Nick Cistola as they talk about Kevin’s recent sermon “Solitude: Be Still”, continuing through our “Pathways of God’s Grace” series (found HERE)using Psalm 46 as a guide.

  • Sermon Recap
  • When you think of solitude—not just being alone, but being alone with God—what image or memory comes to mind?
  • What do you tend to do when you’re in a time of solitude—prayer, journaling, read specific scripture?
  • What does removing distraction actually look like for both of you—are there any practical boundaries or habits you’ve had to build to be more present with Jesus?
  • “Be Still or Cease striving and know that I am God.” That verse from Psalm 46 is such a key verse but maybe easier said then done—what helps you actually stop striving and rest in God’s presence, especially as a pastor or in seasons of extreme busyness?
  • How do you think about the role of silence in worship, and can we make space for stillness even in the corporate gathering?
  • If someone were to say, “I’m just not good at solitude, being alone or sitting in silence,” how would you encourage them to start?
  • Additional Resources you think would be helpful to share?
