Aetheo introduces the idea of a world where magic is fuelled by performance art, which develops into the concept of a godlike embodiment of magic who grants spell activations in return for being entertained, a main character who learns to communicate with magic, and an entertaining quest to revive long-lost art forms that the magic really wants to see again.
