Paul Johnson was the best that ever did it. I went through which tracks to include on a mix hundreds of times for this and still managed to leave off about 30 I wanted to include.

His discography is absolutely ridiculous and if you've gaps in the collection have a look online as there are so many nice digital re-issues of the older, more difficult to find stuff.
