In the early morning hours of Aug. 6, 1945, a B-29 bomber named Enola Gay dropped the world’s first atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima. The explosion immediately killed 80,000 people and many more would die later from radiation exposure. This was the beginning of the end of World War II.
