Pay It Forward Renewable Energy Presentation and Podcast

Listen Later

Renewable energy refers to energy derived from naturally replenishing sources that are virtually inexhaustible or can be replenished within a human timescale. These energy sources are considered renewable because they are continuously available or can be naturally replenished, making them sustainable alternatives to finite fossil fuel resources. Renewable energy sources have the advantage of being abundant, widely available, and producing little to no greenhouse gas emissions during operation. They play a crucial role in mitigating climate change, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and promoting a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy system.

The podcast will discuss the pros and cons of various renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass. The capacity for renewable energy generation has been steadily increasing worldwide. Solar and wind power are the dominant renewable energy sources, with substantial growth in installed capacity over the past decade. Other renewable sources, such as hydroelectric power, biomass, and geothermal energy, also contribute to the overall renewable energy mix. The costs of renewable energy technologies, particularly solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind power, have been declining rapidly. This cost reduction, coupled with advancements in technology and economies of scale, has made renewable energy increasingly competitive with conventional fossil fuel-based power generation.
