In this episode of Music Industry Insights Worldwide, host Saskhia Menendez sits down with singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Dain Norman — a modern rock storyteller whose journey reads like a classic American odyssey.
Born in Florida and shaped by the sounds of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, Dain spent his early twenties traveling as a musical vagabond, performing on street corners, taking odd jobs, and joining bands across the American South. His path eventually led him to the Pacific Northwest— arriving with only $15 and no home. What followed was a remarkable climb.
Today, Dain is the founder of The Chrysalis Effect, a touring band rooted in raw rock and soul. Through his studio HelloJude Productions, he has produced multiple EPs and albums, including the powerful double album Shades of Blue, recorded partly at the iconic London Bridge Studios with producer Jonathan Plum (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Brandi Carlile).
His music has earned FM radio play across the globe, acclaim from Aldora Britain Records, and comparisons to John Lennon for his messages of peace, unity, and social reflection.
We explore:
🎙️ His early influences & the DNA of classic rock
🎙️ DIY touring across the US & surviving as a working musician
🎙️ The making of Shades of Blue and the upcoming Sunbeam
🎙️ The role of activism, humanity & hope in his songwriting
🎙️ Balancing fatherhood, creativity, and a growing global audience
This is a deep, inspiring dive into resilience, artistry, and the timeless power of rock and roll.
Listen, learn, and be moved.
