Modern life can feel like a constant test: Are you performing well enough? Are you measuring up to God?
Sadly, we often bring that same exhausting mindset into our faith. We start viewing worship, prayer, and even Holy Communion as acts of our piety—things we have to do to show God we’re trying hard enough.
But that is not how God operates. Our God is a God of covenant. He doesn't bully us or push us around with endless demands. Instead, He reaches down to embrace us, reconcile with us, and make peace through His Word and His special gifts.
Think of Holy Baptism as the washing that makes us alive in Christ, and Holy Communion as the regular rest stop along the way. When you come to the Lord’s Table, it’s not about how pure your heart is—it’s an act of the Lord’s pure, compassionate love for you. It’s Jesus leaning in to say: "Your sins are forgiven. You are rescued. You are mine."
If you’re feeling like you don't measure up, take a moment to listen to this week's conversation. And if you need a place to sit down, recharge, and hear this Gospel promise in person, our doors are wide open.
