Publisher's Summary:
On December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy launched a devastating surprise attack on the US naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, leaving 2403 Americans dead and more than 1000 wounded. Five ships and 188 aircraft were destroyed. The offensive stunned a nation that had - to this point - avoided being dragged into the Second World War.
Within days, America had declared war on Japan and entered what was now a truly global conflict. More than a century of isolationism had been swept aside, and the US was propelled into a conflict that would ultimately result in it becoming the international superpower and "policeman of the world" that we know today.
Released to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the attack, this volume looks in detail at how the events of December 7, 1941, unfolded at Pearl Harbor, the military forces involved from both sides, and the key people who played a part. The story is told through rare eyewitness accounts with in-depth analysis of this critical turning point that changed world history forever.

Pearl Harbor Chronicle!
There have been a number of special, one-off mags published to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. Jack Harrison's PEARL HARBOR 75TH ANNIVERSARY MAGAZINE, published by England's Morton Media Group, is the best of the lot.
Harrison's effort, which tops off at 130 pages, is a comprehensive and well-illustrated overview of "the day that will live in infamy." It features a number of sections on prewar isolationism, the war in Europe and the end to U.S. neutrality, America and Japan's road to war, the prewar U.S. Navy, the Pearl Harbor stronghold, the planning/preparation/launching of the attack, Japanese aircraft used in the attack, the first wave's attack, details of the attacks on the various BBs and other warships including statements from surviving crewmen, etc.
The magazine is illustrated throughout with vintage and contemporary b&w and color photographs, maps and cartoons. I would have liked side profiles of the various U.S. and Japanese aircraft at Pearl but that's just me.
In any case, Harrison's PEARL HARBOR 75TH ANNIVERSARY MAGAZINE is a quality, in-depth summary of the most momentous day in the 20th Century. Highly recommended.
