I learned at the aquarium that penguins used to fly, and somehow that turned into an essay about parenting, growing up, and the parts of ourselves we bury without noticing.

Not dramatic.
Just real.

Watching those penguins, all I could think about was my brother’s 40th birthday party—and the man who admitted he hadn’t picked up his guitar in 12 years.

A whole version of himself just… gone.

Buried under jobs, mortgages, responsibility, and the slow erosion of adulthood nobody really warns you about.

This episode is about the little losses.
The gifts we forget we have.
The wings we trade for flippers without noticing.
And the parts of ourselves we hope our kids don’t lose too.

Maybe growing up is always a trade.
Maybe losing the sky gives you the ocean.
