After a wild Sunday that saw Prema driver Robert Shwartzman become the first rookie with a rookie team to ever be on pole, IndyCar put out a statement Monday moving the No. 2 and No. 12 Penske cars of Josef Newgarden and Will Power to the back of the grid, suspending their team strategists, fining the teams $100,000 each, and forcing them to redraft their pit stalls with the last 2 picks. The suspension comes because of an unapproved alteration of the rear attenuator, a safety device on the rear wing, to improve aerodynamics.
