Perception of An Immigrant About America

Listen Later

Most immigrants became familiar with the United States through movies and television shows they watch in the native countries. Perception of America is heavily influenced by media, which tend to over exaggerate things and distort the actual reality of life in the United States. In this discussion we trying to understand, the impact of perception among African immigrants and how perception has affected their relationship with fellow black people in the United States. Historically black people have endured a lot and the aftermath of all of that is still evident today. Black on black crimes in the inner cities across America is just one of the many problems.  In Africa, civil wars are raging and have displaced millions of black people all over the world as refugees. Black people are still learning to accept one another and to unite as people.  Colonialism is to blame for some of these divisions and in fighting among black people. But how long are we going to blame colonialism? What can we do as black people to support each other? What is the problem with the black race?
