We love to shop. In this episode, Katie regales Nina about iconic (in the religious sense) Indian grocery store Sweet Mart. Sweet Mart opened in 1978 and has since become a local Bristol institution. It sells everything you could ever want, from South Asian veg, to Western condiments, to Jamaican bread, to organic Japanese products. However, the history of this always-fully-stocked-with-everything shop in a gentrifying neighbourhood starts unexpectedly in Uganda. We spoke with co-owner Rashid Majothi, who generously explained how his family migrated to England and the origin of Sweet Mart. Guest stars: Bristol's ice rink, Zabaar's, pringles mural, Fran Fine.
