At a large evangelistic festival in New York City, a young woman named Emma came to a meeting that helped train believers to share the Good News. At the meeting, Emma kept asking questions about everything that could go wrong when she was sharing the Good News. She asked, “What if it’s too noisy when I try to share the Good News?” and “What if I’m talking to someone who has a hard time understanding English?” It became clear that this woman was a perfectionist, and that she was fearful of sharing the Good News without everything being just right.
The thing is, nothing – except Jesus – will ever be perfect. In all my years as an evangelist, I have never had absolutely perfect circumstances to share the Good News. In fact, often, even despite my best efforts, many things have gone wrong. But guess what? God still worked. God was still present in each situation. Hearts and lives were changed.
The Bible says in Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to the whole creation”. This week, don’t let imperfect circumstances stop you. Don’t wait for ideal conditions. Instead, pray for a courageous heart, then go! Share the Good News with people in your life and in your world.
