How can we be safe in relationships if we haven’t given ourselves permission to love ourselves first?
This week, we sat down with Jocelyn Duke to explore the word Permission. For Jocelyn, Permission is the starting point to her journey of self-acceptance. Jocelyn is an accomplished Division 1 Basketball player, coach, Bodybuilder, Personal Trainer, Author, Poet, Artist and Carpenter. There are many parts to Jocelyn, and we discuss how she learned to find worth in the parts of herself that weren’t always visible in her athletic accomplishments - and how much these parts of herself shape her confidence and happiness today. Her books, “Poetic Thoughts” and “Give Me Three Words”, along with her T-shirt and Greeting Card lines, are a few ways Jocelyn connects to others with words. She works as a Personal Trainer in Louisville, Ky but describes herself as an Artist all day, everyday.

What is 'Permission'?
Permission is defined as Formal Consent; authorization granted to do something.
In this episode, “Permission,” is about understanding the parts of yourself we’re trying to protect and learning how to connect to those parts with love and value. Giving yourself “Permission” to feel worthy of all of the parts we hide to protect yourself from rejection. We discuss how we know when to give myself “Permission” to step closer or further away from someone or something, in order to feel safe as my true self. Trusting our own “Permission” to connect to ourselves is how we have the most meaningful connections with others
