PERSEVERANCE

Sunday 16th April 2023- Second Service

Perseverance is the continued effort to do something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.

One of the things that we need to learn is how to handle failure and losses because it is impossible to manifest destiny without going through these hard experiences because God uses them to build our inner strength.

Luke 22:63-64 [63]Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him. [64]And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck You?”

If they told you that Jesus was the savior, you would not believe it because He didn't look like it. It was at His weakest ( the cross) that the enemy lost all (Mark 15:34, 1 cor 1:18-22).

2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”....

It is during the moments when we feel very low that heaven shows up in our lives. No matter the opposition, failure, or difficulties, keep moving forward. Even when you feel like you are failing, do not quit, fail forward!.

If you are going to walk with God; pain, shame and suffering, will come your way because it is part of the makeup of God's child and if you are not conscious of this truth, you will engage yourself in battles you are not supposed to.

Isaiah 50:1-7.... I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. [7]“For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.

Even with the shame and disgrace of plucking out His beard and spitting on Him, Jesus knew that it wouldn't end that way therefore He focused and persisted on.

Read Mark 5:26-28

The woman refused to give up because she knew that one day, she would get her healing.

If you give up, you will have no testimony.

Proverbs 24:10 [10]If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.

The problem is not the adversity that is coming against you, it is the strength you have; adversities will always come but you should be strong and not quit.

Psalm 27:13 KJV *I had fainted, Unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

David also reached a point when he wanted to faint because he was seeing nothing good happening but he was quickened in his spirit to hold on and keep believing.

Luke 11:5-8 [5]And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves;.... [7]and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’ 8]I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

He will get results not because he is a friend but because he persisted and refused to give up.

God did not say that He would deliver you but He promised that He would be with you through the waters and the fire.

There is a place in your walk with God where you just have to trust Him and keep moving forward because you are sure that you will not be ashamed even if you go through the toughest times.

The same Apostle Paul who never knew what to do at one point ended up with a testimony of finishing the race because he was able to persevere.

1 Kings 18:42-43 Elijah prayed six times and there was nothing but he didn't give up until the seventh time.
