Ch. 1 — The Man Who Desired Gold

• Introduces a chariot maker (Bansir) and a lyre player (Kobe)
• They both share that they’re broke but can’t figure out why they’re broke
• Bansir is working on a chariot (something he can’t afford)
• Kobe asked Bansir for a loan, but he doesn’t have it to give
• They share their dreams with each other, 
• They ask themselves how some people have a lot of money and others do not
• They have a friend named Arkad who is known as the richest man in Babylon and wonder how they all grew up together and went to the same schools, but Arkad has lots of money and they don’t
• The main point of chapter 1 is to start yourself on the way to riches, it is important to learn from others the experience in acquiring riches
• You can’t make something you don’t desire
• It is important to desire money
• It is not important to worship or fear money; that is detrimental
• It is important that you don’t kill money because you desire it

• You love your money in a way to gratify yourself
• The way you love your money is you spend it making yourself look good to where you’re killing your money never to be seen again
• We view love that we need someone else to complete us
• We view money the same way; your money is being sacrificed to make you feel better
• Your money is a vehicle for your gratification 
• You love those to whom you give
• True love is a love of giving
• The real way to handle your money is about what you’re going to give when you get that money
• Idea is to understand to love your money to the point where it will multiply because you’re giving it to something that increases
• You do not love yourself if you do not have any assets
• Lesson: Bansir and Kobe went and humbled themselves and asked Arkad what they should do
• People with a lot of money have fantastic character
• If your God is so good, but the man/woman you hate so much is so blessed, either you’re extremely wrong or you have a wimpy God
• You cannot have money not serving
• Money flows through stewardship
• Money is for you to share to make the world better

3 Laws of Successfully Handling Money

1. Live on less than you earn
2. Seek advice from those who are competent through their own experiences to give it

• Information is not skilled acquisition
• If you don’t have a money mentor, go get one

1. Make sure your money makes money.

• Make sure your money works for you.
• It’s easier to save more when you have more income.

Division of Money

1. How to get out of debt

• 10% to God.
• 10% to Self. - 18 months liquid
• Stocks
• Bonds
• Roth IRA
• If you don’t know what to do with your 10%, put it in savings.
• You should be investing your money.
• Emergency Fund
• 10% to Debt.
• The right debt is good.
• The important stuff should be in your debt.
• Stop buying everything
• Stop panicking every time someone tells you to pay.
• If you are in debt, you can not pay all your debt and kill your harvest.
• If you have more than 10% debt, it’s time to let some things go.
• Keep your debt at 10% no matter what!!!
• What should be included:
• Insurance
• Medical Equipment
• Credit Card
• Car Note
• Any loan
• 70% to Living Expenses
• This automatically says that you probably can’t eat your whole garden.
• Don’t let anything take you past your 70%. This is protecting your garden
• If it’s not in your 70, you can’t do it.
• You don’t increase your spending if you haven’t increased your income.
• What should be included:
• Gas
• Nails
• Toes
• Clothes
• Food

1. How to get out of debt if you don’t have debt

• 10% to God.
• 20% to Self. 
• 10% to Debt. 
• 60% to Living Expenses

• People who are good at money is always studying money.
• The people around you are toxic because they don’t like their lives.
• Money has a lot to do with happiness.

For 4 months, put a dumb amount of money into your account. 

• Needs to flow in your checking account
• When you are ready for a credit card increase, they are going to look at your last 60 days bank statements.
• By September, as for a $50,000 increase on your credit.
• Can’t miss a payment
• You need the income coming in.
• They are going to assume you are making more money
