In our previous episode, we explored Zechariah 4:6–7 and the powerful declaration: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.” This time, we go back to the beginning of Zechariah’s vision to uncover the picture behind those words.

Zechariah sees a golden lampstand, seven lamps, a bowl of oil, and two olive trees. The lampstand could not produce light on its own—it needed oil. The continuous supply of oil points us to the work and power of the Holy Spirit.

The vision then reveals a powerful connection between the Spirit, grace, and God's ability to overcome what appears impossible. The mountain before Zerubbabel would become a plain, and the capstone would be brought forth with the cry:

“Grace, grace to it!” — Zechariah 4:7

We also explore Rehoboth, where Isaac declared, “The LORD has made room for us” (Genesis 26:22), and consider how this illustrates what grace does—creating room for God's purpose and fruitfulness.

But grace is not the end of the journey. Grace makes provision; faith responds. God can supply the oil and level the mountain, but we must still take the step of faith.

In this episode, we take a closer look at Paul’s closing prayer in 2 Corinthians 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.”

What if Paul was not simply praying for grace, love, and the Holy Spirit to be given to the believers, but that their eyes would be opened to what was already available to them?

Scripture speaks of the “manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10), and Paul reminds us that we have gifts “according to the grace that is given to us” (Romans 12:6). This points to the many ways grace can be experienced and expressed in our lives. We can grow in grace (2 Peter 3:18), and our awareness, cooperation, and expression of what God has made available to us can deepen.

At the center of this discussion is the communion of the Holy Spirit.

Knowing about the Holy Spirit is not the same as communing with Him. We can have access to someone without cultivating a relationship with them. In the same way, believers can carry the presence of the Holy Spirit and yet live without fully recognizing or engaging what they carry.

Jesus said of the Holy Spirit, “He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you” (John 14:17), while Paul says that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17).

This episode explores what it means to walk in that awareness—to recognize the treasure we carry, cultivate communion with the Holy Spirit, and understand how humility positions us to experience more of God’s grace.

We also examine the distinction between the breath of God, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit coming upon a person for divine empowerment, with biblical examples from Samson, Saul, David, and Gideon.

Ultimately, the message is simple: we carry a treasure in earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7), but carrying it and recognizing its value are not the same thing.

As we grow in our understanding of grace and deepen our communion with the Holy Spirit, may we become increasingly conscious of the God who is with us, in us, and working through us.

There Is Nothing Like Unmerited Favor

What if being overlooked by people is actually part of being positioned by God?

When David became afraid of the Ark of the Covenant after Uzzah was struck down, the Ark was placed in Obed-Edom’s house. Don’t mistake an unfinished chapter for a finished story.

Grace is not committed to our preferred methods. Grace is committed to God’s perfect will.
