Set in 19th-century England, Persuasion focuses on Anne Elliot, a thoughtful and introspective woman considered past her youthful prime. Eight years prior, Anne was persuaded by family and friends to reject a marriage proposal from Frederick Wentworth, a young naval officer with uncertain prospects. Now Wentworth returns a successful and wealthy captain, and they may have a chance at rekindling their romance.
