Dr. Leah Kaylor is not your average psychologist—she’s the FBI’s expert in sleep and trauma, with over half a decade of experience helping high-stakes professionals perform under pressure and recover after exposure to some of the most disturbing aspects of human behavior. A licensed clinical and prescribing psychologist, Dr. Kaylor brings a rare combination of forensic insight, trauma expertise, and sleep science to every conversation. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Saint Louis University, her Master’s in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a postdoctoral Master’s in Clinical Psychopharmacology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Kaylor began her career at the Memphis VA Medical Center’s Sleep Clinic, treating veterans with nightmares, insomnia, and CPAP nonadherence. There, she also supported first responders through crisis interventions and psychological debriefings. Since then, she’s gone on to serve the Federal Bureau of Investigation, providing therapy and trauma treatment to agents exposed to shootings, graphic crime scenes, and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Her work has included conducting psychological debriefings for some of the most high-profile and emotionally taxing incidents in FBI history. Certified in EMDR and Brainspotting, Dr. Kaylor specializes in evidence-based techniques to support recovery and resilience. She’s traveled the globe educating U.S. and international law enforcement partners on how trauma and sleep affect operational performance and mental health. Dr. Kaylor is now on a mission to make the science of sleep accessible to everyone—not just federal agents. Her upcoming book, The Sleep Advantage, launches October 1, 2025, and she shares practical, science-backed strategies on her YouTube channel for anyone ready to optimize rest, resilience, and performance .
