Peter Aiken doesn't do many interviews so we were thrilled to welcome him to Today FM studios for this week`s profile interview on Mario`s Sunday Roast. Peter has brought some of the biggest names in music to venues in Ireland with Aiken Promotions. The company was founded by Jim Aiken, and was at the forefront of bringing international acts to Ireland from the 1960s onwards. It was particularly successful in bringing artists to perform in Ireland during the troubles.
I remember somebody got me a copy of Melody Maker in 1972 and on the front cover was Rory Gallagher and the concert took place at 11`o clock in the morning in Belfast, that was the only time they could do it.
Peter picked Jackie Mason for his favourite comedy and a classic scene from the Field for his favourite film scene. He also went on to tell us why he thinks the Gallagher brothers will one day put their issues behind them and get back on stage!
The only one that really hasn't done it is The Jam and The Smiths, they`ve held pretty firm that they wont do it, I think that Oasis will eventually get an offer that nobody can turn down.
