Serving is at the heart of love, which is the heart of self-giving.
The account of Jesus here is sandwiched between two betrayals, the first betrayal was Judas who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
How could it be that Judas who lived, and walked with Jesus himself, betrayed Him.
The other betrayal was of Peter, who we don’t always call a betrayal but rather a denial, but it was a betrayal of trust and of friendship.
Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified”.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another”.
How is it even possible that Christians could love one another as Christ has loved us? What is the characteristics of love? Love is shown by actions.
