Access through Hunter Valley Station is all about doing the right thing, according to locals.
A memorandum of understanding should be signed in a few weeks to allow public access through the property which is owned by wealthy American Matt Lauer.
Federated Mountain Clubs chief executive Peter Wilson told Larry Williams it is an agreement, where there will be no compensation.
"Without the agreement access is only via helicopter, arriving by boat or taking a three day walk."
