10 しかし、主の日は、盗人のようにやって来ます。その日には、天は大きな響きをたてて消えうせ、天の万象は焼けてくずれ去り、地と地のいろいろなわざは焼き尽くされます。
11 このように、これらのものはみな、くずれ落ちるものだとすれば、あなたがたは、どれほど聖い生き方をする敬虔な人でなければならないことでしょう。

1.主の日への準備

2.死への準備

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives

12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.

13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

1. The Day of the Lord Will Surely Come

Acts 1:9–11

“After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.

‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’”

Matthew 24:36

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

Amos 5:18–20

“Woe to you who long for the day of the Lord!Why do you long for the day of the Lord? That day will be darkness, not light.”

2. How Will You Face Death?

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.

I do not give to you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Romans 5:1

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
