Peter's Prayer During Chastisement and Judgment

I

God when You treat me kindly,

I feel comfort and delight.

And God when You chastise me,

joy and comfort multiply.

Though I'm weak, bear untold pain,

though I have tears and I'm sad,

You know my sorrow comes from

my weakness and disobedience.

Can't meet Your will and request,

I feel sorrow and regret.

But I will do all I can

to please You and reach this realm.

I'm protected by Your chastisement.

It's the best salvation I've received.

Your judgment eclipses patience.

It helps me enjoy Your mercy.

Today I see that Your love

transcends heaven, excels all.

Your love is not just mercy,

it's chastisement and judgment.

They both have given me much.

Without them, none can be cleansed,

the love of the Creator

no one would experience.

I'm protected by Your chastisement.
