Petersfield Community Association was formed in 1964. The former Civil Defence premises was brought from Hampshire County Council in 1968 for £10k.

The centre is a meeting point for many societies and organisations. The building has changed over the years with the addition of the club room and exhibition room and new entrance at the front has not changed the overall character of the building.
