Very few people enjoy being disciplined.  As kids, we usually yelled "That's not Fair!" when we were punished or got in trouble.  Proverbs tell us that even the Lord disciplines us, and it is done through love.

11 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,    and do not resent his rebuke,12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,    as a father the son he delights in.[b]
