The time is Terra A.D.—Terra ‘After Disaster’—long in a future. Sometime in the past, a Great Disaster befell the world—perhaps a nuclear war, perhaps Ragnarok, perhaps the fall of Atlantis—and shattered its continents, its environments, its ecologies, and its civilisations. Now young members of the Tribe of the Cog prepare to undertake their Rite of Passage, to leave the village and return with artefacts of the Ancients to prove themselves adult members of the tribe.
