In this episode - We will be talking about an ancient folk art from Rajasthan- PHAD Art / Painting. Phad painting or Phad art form is an Indian folk painting art form practiced mainly in the state of Rajasthan in India. This art style is a religious scroll painting style. It got its name from the long piece of cloth or scroll it is painted on. We call this long piece of scroll a Phad. This art form is over 700 years old. These paintings have been passed on for generations in their family. These Phads most popularly portray and depict the tales of local gods or folk deities of Rajasthan, Pabuji (folk deity), and Devnarayan (folk deity; an incarnation of Vishnu).
