This chapter is an almost complete break with the rest of the narrative, and Anodos goes off on a tangent to tell you (in detail) about a book he reads in the fairy castle's library. There, we meet a race living on some other planet, which grows wings and dies of deep desire. Is it a strange story? Yes, but no more strange than the end of this book is going to be.
