Being a mentor can help you re-engage your skills and discover a new sense of direction and purpose.
In this episode, Kevin opens up to the PharmaHack team on his journey into pharmacy. Originally from Melbourne, Kevin shares how his initial degree in Pharmaceutical Science and lack of job opportunities drove him across states to study pharmacy in Newcastle.
We discuss the state of pharmacy in Australia and how various regulatory changes due to COVID-19 are not only impacting the scope of practice, but also causing interprofessional disputes. Classified as an essential service and working on the frontline, we discuss how to manage stress and Kevin dispenses some practical solutions on how to minimise the risk of burnout.
Kevin also sheds some light on his initial desire to become a teacher and how persuing his passion of teaching within pharmacy has allowed him to mentor many pharmacy students, interns and pharmacists. Kevin shares how this enriching experience fuels his pharmacy career, prevents burnout and has allowed him to HACK his career.
