Insights:
Each pharyngeal arch (of which there are 5) have a vascular component (aortic arch), innervation (cranial nerve), connective tissue (bone, muscle, cartilage) and sinus (a cleft and a pouch).
Arches 1 and 2 are instrumental in forming structures of the face and middle ear.
Arches 3, 4 and 6 are important in forming structures of the neck and superior mediastinum.
