Arthritis is costing the country an estimated $12.2 billion dollars a year.
That is from a report by Arthritis New Zealand that will be presented to Parliament today.
Chief Executive Philip Kearney says arthritis is a growing health issue for people of working age and it also has a significant impact on Māori and Pacific people.
"There's $3.3 billion dollars of indirect cost and round half of it is to do with lost productivity because people can't physically do the work."
