Philip Pape, a Certified Nutritional Coach, Mindset Specialist, Strength Training Expert, host of Wits & Weights Podcast, and online trainer, didn't start in the fitness industry until his late 30s. He had struggled with health all his life, being overweight and coming from a family with health concerns such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. Throughout the years, he tried lots of different approaches to lose weight like trying different workouts and diets, but it wasn't until 2020 when he learned about strength and nutrition. He conducted a lot of experimentation on himself for about 1.5 years and saw a lot of improvement. Eventually he wanted to share this information with others so in late 2021, he started a podcast. A powerlifter who listened to his podcast asked if he would consider coaching her as a nutrition coach, and that's how he got started with his online fitness business. He never intended his sharing of knowledge to be a business, as he had a day job as an engineer, but despite having only been in business for less than a year, he now has an impressive 80% close rate in sales.
