As we ask “what is the greatest hindrance to unity in the church” we immediately begin to think, it must be something out there. And we see the sins of others and how that affects unity.

But as Paul addresses unity in the church, in Philippi it becomes immediately clear that the biggest hinderance to unity in the church isn’t something out there… The biggest hinderance to unity in the church is in here.

It’s my sin.

And specifically, the sin of pride.

And so as Paul urges the Philippian church to live in unity together he is urging them to live with one another, in radical humility.
