Philopeeps - Episode 05

Listen Later

This is PhiloPeeps - a platform where we talk about life's joys and challenges... amongst many other things!

In our previous episode we had asked our listeners to tell us about their 'fantasy self' and we are truly amazed by the amount of responses we received. We try to highlight some of the more common themes.

We are children to our parents and parents to our children. We were brought up by our parents in a certain way. How much influence has it had on the way we bring up our own children? We have a peek at this sensitive, yet tough topic in this episode.

We invite our listeners to present their perspective on parenting and parenting styles!

      • Trivia:

        Sanskrit subhaashita used in this episode:

        लालयेत् पञ्च वर्षाणि  दशवर्षाणि ताडयेत् | प्राप्येतु षोडशे वर्षे  पुत्रं मित्रवदाचरेत् ||

        ... and that means -

        One should nurture a child with love and utmost care during the initial five years,  followed by maintaining strict discipline during the next ten years.

        After the child reaches sixteenth year of his/her age he/she should be treated like a friend.
