The PhinManiacs scouting series starts with University at Buffalo running back, Jaret Patterson. After three stellar seasons at SUNY Buffalo, the Jr. running back is declaring for the NFL draft and coming off of a Heisman campaign where in only 6 games he rushed for 1,072 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Patterson had one of the greatest performances in college football history against Kent State earlier in the 2020 season when he rushed for 409 yards and scored 8 touchdowns. His running yardage mark was the 2nd highest single-game total in NCAA Division I history and he tied for a single-game record with his eight scores.

This past season his yard per carry average was a gaudy 7.6, and his 19 rushing touchdowns what is good for 5th in the nation.

As Jaret discuss is in the interview, his path to becoming an NFL prospect did not start out as easy as other Heisman candidates and he shared stories about going through this process with his twin brother, as well as his preparation for the upcoming NFL scouting combine.

Patterson is looking like a potential steal and diamond in the rough type of a player who could be a Day 2 name to listen for come April. With a team like the Miami Dolphins needing play-makers and depth at skill positions, Patterson is certainly someone to have on your radar.

The PhinManiacs scouting series will continue with more prospect interviews as we get closer to the combine and NFL draft.
