French and British troops have arrived in Italy from the Western Front to bolster the Italian army after its blistering defeat in Caporetto cut its troop strength in half.

While the German advance into northeastern Italy is said to have been checked, Berlin reports the capture of 200,000 Italian prisoners and 1,800 artillery pieces.

Battles large and small continue in Northern France with most involving heavy artillery.

French officials report the downing of two dozen German aircraft in the last ten days of October.

Nearly all were downed in aerial duels with French pilots.

Berlin has reported the first capture of “North American” troops.

While no confirmation has yet come from General Pershing, these men are believed to be members of a small scouting party in the last stages of its training with French forces.
