I had the opportunity to talk with Eric Allix Rogers, Program Coordinator for Open House Chicago. He works with Garrett Karp to put together Open House Chicago happening October 17th-18th.
Photographers will have the opportunity to go into buildings with amazing architecture, 200 sites in 18 different neighborhoods, that are not normally opened up to the public. Last year, it was estimated that 75,000 visitors attended and this year is the 5th year, with many new sites to see! It is an opportunity to shoot interesting vantage points from skyscrapers, theaters, churches and cathedrals, ballrooms and lobbies of hotels, architectural firms, and much more. Visit the full list of sites at the all-new Open House Chicago website.
Eric Rogers discusses equipment and techniques needed for some of the locations, from lenses to camera settings. It is always important to check with security on the rules for photography for each location.
Open House Chicago is October 17th-18th and is free, however, for just $70, you can become a member of the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Being a member has the added benefit of priority access to the Open House Chicago sites to avoid lines, as well as exclusive entry to members-only sites. Click here for more information.
We are offering a limited-time special deal on the architectural photography seminar. Sign up by October 1st to receive $50 off registration! Click here to sign up today.
