Pierre Bismuth is a French conceptual artist based in Brussels, who has shown his minimal, riddle-like and humorous work internationally. In 2004, he won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, together with Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman.

For Frieze Talks he discussed his latest feature film, released May 2015, Where is Rocky II? The film documents the artist’s six-year-long obsession with finding a rock that the Ed Ruscha supposedly buried in the Mojave Desert in California in the 1970s. In a mix of fiction and documentary, Bismuth hired a team of screenwriters, actors and private detectives to assist him on his hunt. He discussed the film with LA-based writer and curator Andrew Berardini.
