Piers Dowell paints crash helmets. He's painted helmets for Petter Solberg, James May, and er, Steve Berry. Over thirty years he estimates he's added a bit of art and individualism to over 6,000 skid lids. Entirely unrelated but undoubtedly interesting is his passion for aero-engined cars. He's acquired a genuine supercharged Merlin engine and is starting out on what he reckons will be the two-year-build to create a car to contain it.
