Pieta Brown says that she didn't find the guitar, the guitar found her. The daughter of singer/songwriter Greg Brown, Pieta wrote her first song when she was only three years old. She's come a long way since then, earning a reputation for song crafting. Her most recent CD, 'Paradise Outlaw,' was created with the collaboration of stand-out artists including Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, who also provided Pieta use of his recording studio for the album.
The creative restlessness that drives 'Paradise Outlaw' has been a constant in Pieta Brown's life. Born in Iowa, she lived in at least 17 different residences in multiple states during her youth. Her parents separated when she was two, but she grew up surrounded by artists and musicians, absorbing all manner of bohemian artistic influences. By the age of eight, she was writing poetry and instrumental music on the piano, eventually picking up the guitar and merging the two into songs.
Pieta visited the Folk Alley studios in Kent, Ohio in November of 2014, with Bo Ramsey joining her on guitar.
