What if your muscles were the most important organ in your body for living a longer, healthier life? In this episode, Dr. Robert Hariri sits down with Dr. Jacob Wilson, founder of the Applied Science & Performance Institute in Tampa, Florida, to explore the cutting-edge science of muscle health and aging.
Dr. Wilson breaks down why muscle is far more than just a tool for movement - it's a critical endocrine organ that synthesizes proteins, supports immune function, and houses your body's regenerative stem cell reservoir. They discuss the science of myostatin inhibition, how blocking this protein can counteract age-related muscle loss, and what the latest clinical trials are showing.
In this episode:
Whether you're an elite athlete or just beginning your health journey, this conversation will change the way you think about building and preserving muscle for a longer life.

We've been told for years by doctors to watch our cholesterol. Cereals have become synonymous with breakfast and often boast being "healthy" or at least part of a nutritious diet.
There are certain "givens" that have pervaded the health and nutrition space for decades. But what if they're not true? Or only partially true?
In this interview with Dr. George Shapiro, the Chief Medical Innovation Officer at Fountain Life, we explore some of the common thinking people have around heart disease and health. Dr. Shapiro breaks down the five biomarkers for arterial plaque and they're not necessarily what you'd think. When you think of diet and exercise to become healthy, what kind of diet and what types of exercise come to mind? You might be surprised by what types actually reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
As always, consult your physician before any significant changes to your diet or exercise routine, but this episode should give you some “food” for thought the next time you’re at the grocery store or the gym. Enjoy the episode!

We store our financial assets in a bank; should we be storing our biological assets as well? This episode's guest and I think so.
This week's episode was filmed on location at Peter Diamandis' A360 event and features returning pod guest Andrew Hessel. If you missed his last episode, we discussed the ability to fax living organisms. This episode is just as fascinating. Andrew discusses the importance of bio-banking and what it means for your ability to combat serious disease in the future.
He also gets into cloning: what does it really look like, how it's happening now, and why we're likely to see it with humans in the not-too-distant future. There's even an interesting thread about passing on your wealth to your own biological clone and what that could look like for generational wealth-building.
As always with Andrew Hessel, the line between science and science fiction gets blurry as he elaborates on the technologies today that are shaping tomorrow. Enjoy the episode.

Why do drugs like Ozempic work? In this episode of Piloting Health, Dr. Frank Dos Santos joins me once again for an in-depth look at the most talked-about drugs on the market right now: GLP-1 agonists.
We break down exactly why the drugs cause weight loss, but also how that weight loss can lead to a reduced change of certain types of diseases. What is it about caloric restriction that can help stave off disease? In this vein, we also talk intermittent fasting and I even espouse my theory that the body encourages fasting when combatting certain types of cancer.
It goes without saying that any decision to begin any type of drug or medical regiment needs to be discussed with your physician, so we're not advocating for any individual to begin GLP-1 agonists or fasting but, in general, the results we're seeing from caloric restriction seem to be very positive in many circumstances. In this episode, Dr. Dos Santos and I break down exactly why.

Do the secrets to combatting disease already reside within our own bodies? We rely heavily on vaccines for serious disease, but this week's guest talks about the power of unleashing our own immune system.
Lou Reese is the Board Chair and Co-Founder - along with his wife Mei Mei - of Vaxxinity, a company that focuses on active immunity medicines. I had the opportunity sit down with Lou for a pop-up podcast at a recent Abundance Platinum conference hosted by Peter Diamandis, at which Lou and I were both speaking. You'll notice the hotel ballroom curtain background.
In this episode, we connect the dots between medical science and social science, discussing not just the incredible breakthroughs that Lou and his team are working on, but also finding your purpose and even setting examples for your children.

Have we created an operating system for life? How close are we to cloning humans, and what would that even look like?
You're in for a fascinating episode as the line between science and science fiction gets blurred. My guest is microbiologist and geneticist Andrew Hessel, the CEO and Founder of The Genome Project-Write, and author of "The Genesis Machine: Our Quest to Rewrite Life in the Age of Synthetic Biology."
In this episode we discuss:
➡️ How protein engineering has gone fully digital.
➡️ How DNA is a coding language that we can access.
➡️ Craig Ventner's work in transfecting a cell with a synthetic chromosome.
➡️ The reality of human cloning.
➡️ Stem cell banking and the future of medicine.
➡️ What immortality could really look like.
➡️ And more!

What if you had access to your own healthy stem cells, but from a version of you 20, 30 or even 60 years earlier? Stem cells that had the potential to fight diseases you're current self is dealing with... or with skin restoration... or hair loss?
It sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but this is a new reality, and it's here! Now!
Dr. Frank Dos Santos has joined me on the pod again. For those that didn't see his previous appearances, I would encourage you to go back and watch or listen. Dr. Dos Santos is the Chief Medical Officer at RWJ Barnabas Healthy. Previously, he was the Chief Medical Officer for the US Navy East, where he was responsible for Global DOD healthcare spanning four continents, and prior to that, he was a Navy and Marine Corps Emergency Medical Service Leader.
In this episode, we talk about adult stem cell banking. It's right around the corner, and updates will be coming SOON with specific details on how you can help protect your own health and the health of your family in the future with this safe, simple procedure. It's literally just a blood draw!
Other topics we dive into in this episode include:
- Myostatin and muscle growth
- Exosomes for hair growth
- Bioidentical hormone therapy
- The effects of protein powders on liver function
- And more!

The subject of physical and cognitive performance is what everyone is talking about right now. Maybe not overtly, but the headlines grabbing the news are the Olympics in Paris, and President Joe Biden ending his campaign for re-election. The centerpiece of both is about performance.
Maybe not overtly, but when people watch the Olympics, they're observing athletes at the peak of human physical performance, and noticing how the difference between medaling and not can come down to the smallest differences in this performance.
The discussion surrounding President Biden's re-election campaign has been largely centered around his cognitive performance. With former President Trump just three years younger, it was less about the actual age and much more about the physical and cognitive performance.
The bottom line is that there are real-world consequences for maintaining, or not maintaining, high performance. I've often talked about the four pillars of healthy aging: high performance physical function, high performance cognitive ability, high performance immune function and youthful aesthetics.
Each plays an important role in not the years we live, but the way we engage with the world. In this episode, I talk about some of the ways that people can maintain high performance and some of the cutting edge science that is starting to be explored to help people do so. Enjoy the episode!

Previously, he was the Chief Medical Officer for the US Navy East, where he was responsible for a Global DOD healthcare spanning four continents, and prior to that he was a Navy and Marine Corps Emergency Medical Service Leader, and Senior Medical Officer in the US Navy.
Included in this episode:
➡️ When to explore hormone therapies to maintain high performance.
➡️ Symptoms of aging related to declining endocrine function.
➡️ Why are pilots forced to retire? Are we prioritizing age over performance?
➡️ Is 100 going to be the new 60?
➡️ How cortisol levels are affected by stress.
➡️ The importance of self care.
➡️ Which supplements Dr. Dos Santos and I take every day.
➡️ And more!
