Broken Records - The Search for the Worst Album Ever

Pink Floyd - Ummagumma

Listen Later

It’s time for us to once again look deep into the murkiest areas of the music industry and pull out a stinker to induct into our list of Broken Records. On this episode Remfry and Steve return to a favoured pastime for the pair; arguing about Pink Floyd. Their 4th album Ummagumma, released on the 7th of November 1969, is the subject of this week's episode.

Despite Remfry not being a fan, Pink Floyd have done alright for themselves over the years, and this record was both critically and commercially successful. It even has a pretty good reputation amongst the bands hardcore fanbase. Essentially a part live album and part set of improvised solo efforts from the band members, it is seen to be a bridge between the post-Syd Barrett Floyd and the pre-Roger Walters led one. So why is it here? Well, despite the world at large feeling positively about the album, Pink Floyd aren’t so keen… neither is Remfry, shocker!
