Chapter Three

Donkey Ears


Pinocchio is going home.

On the way he sees a coach.

The coach is full of children.

Donkeys pull it.

“Where is the coach going?”he asks the children.

“We are going to Playland.

There are no schools and no books!

We play all day!

Come with us!”

Pinocchio goes to Playland with the children.

He plays and plays.

He does not go home for many days.

One morning Pinocchio wakes up.

Surprise! He has donkey ears.

“Oh,no! My ears changed into donkey ears,”he cries.

Then the Blue Fairy appears.

“Why are you a donkey,Pinocchio ?” she asks.

“Because I played and played at Playland.

I did not study,” says Pinocchio.

“Pinocchio ,you are bad. Be good!”

“ I will,” says Pinocchio.

Then the Blue Fairy takes away his donkey ears.

Pinocchio is back home.

But where is Geppetto?

“Geppetto, where are you?” Pinocchio calls.

“Geppetto is not here. A big fish ate him,”a gull says.
