This week was the last onsite interview in the history of Pint Talking and got to hang out with Paoloa Vabuena and John Hill from Pulpo Brewing Co. in Willoughby Ohio. Pulpo is the first Latina women owned brewery in Ohio. They are associated with Barroco arepa bar and Hola Tacos. Paola and John talked to me about navigating the waters of tumultuous craft beer market in 2023 as well as increasing production to satisfy their needs of the other locations. During the interview we touched on potential future plans and what they feel is currently the best situation for Pulpo.

 The end is nigh. As we move closer to end of Pint Talking I finally tracked down the elusive John McGroarty fomrerly of Thirsty Dog, Butcher and Brewer,  and HiHo Brewing Company. John is now out on his own and is the co-owner and brewer at Green Valley Brewing. We talked about his storied history as well as the putting together the plan for Green Valley in Hudson, Ohio. We discussed the beer that he perfected at his previous employer and all of the other amazing beers he is brewing at Green Valley.

This week I visited with friend of the show Jennifer Hermann at Bell Tower Brewing Company in Kent, Ohio. A year after our first visit we geeked out on our favorite beverage. Jennifer talked about celebrating two years at Bell Tower as well as the beer school she teaches at the brewery every so often. We discussed the current state of craft beer as well as what the future may hold. I also gave a major update of the state of Pint Talking and what the future holds for the show.

This week I visited Terrestrial Brewing Company in Cleveland, Ohio and sat down with Ralph Sgro is the co-owner and brewer at Terrestrial. During the visit we talked about the change in the brewery landscape as more and more breweries battle to stay relevant in a saturated craft beer market. We discussed on site expansion and how the market has changed dramatically in the past couple of years. We discussed how AI might change the landscape along with other unique brewing products focused mainly on the hop side.

This week I visited 8th Day Brewing Company and sat down with Matt Boddy. We talked about a bunch of different things including recent additions of fermenters, and some future enhancements to the brewery that are coming soon. This week I visited Pompatus Brewing Company and sat down with the Joker of Love Steve Miller. Steve is the owner and brewer at Pompatus. While we did talk a little music, we mostly talked about our most favorite beverage on the planet. While Steve may be brewing on a small system, he’s delivering some fantastic beer to his customers. During the show we discussed his background that started in Boulder Colorado before the craft beer explosion had really gone bananas. Steve has a love a of lager beers, and he does his best to make sure Pompatus always has delicious lagers on draft.
