Pipestone City Council members during their July 20 meeting approved a commercial tax abatement policy. Jasper Ambulance to receive telemedicine equipment The Jasper City Council learned during its July 21 meeting that the Jasper Ambulance will be equipped with Avel eCare EMS Telemedicine Services using funds from a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All Program that was awarded to Southwest Minnesota EMS Corporation. The Jasper City Council during its July 21 meeting discussed using the previous Minnesota state flag rather than the one that became the state’s official flag in 2024. The city currently flies the new flag, but Mayor Kim Lape said there’d been talk among community members about reverting to the old flag. A couple of decades ago my dad took the family to Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora, N.D. When the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library opened there on July 4 of this year, we decided to go check it out.  The structure itself is built to resemble the rugged terrain of the Badlands. Æbleskiver Days opened with an 18-hole golf tournament at Tyler Golf Club on Friday, July 24. The event featured a three-person best shot format. The winning team featured Alec Koster, Jackson Koster and Matt Koster. The Kosters are originally from Redwood Falls. Jackson Koster was at one time an assistant golf coach at Southwest Minnesota State University. The trio shot a 59. The second-place threesome was Shaun Thomas, Brandon Hagg and Austin Hasse, posting a 60. ST. JAMES — Pipestone American Legion Post No. 6 was eliminated from the Senior Legion Division II Southwest Substate Tournament. Springfield defeated Pipestone, 10-3, on Thursday, July 16. The Holland Fire Department won the kickball tournament during Holland Days. Due to heat-related concerns, the entire event was conducted on Friday, July 24, concluding deep into the night. Six teams participated in the tournament, and the winners had to fight through the elimination bracket for the title. Here’s the team.
