For this very first guest episode of Pivot or Perish, I'm joined by Miriam Lacroix, an attorney who has pivoted into academia.
Miriam spent over a decade practicing immigration law, built her own firm from the ground up, and then did something a lot of us think about but rarely do: she walked away. Not because she failed. Not because she didn't love the work. But because her whole life was asking her to choose differently.
In this conversation, we get into what it was like to be the first in her family to go to law school, build a law practice, the turning point she didn't know she needed, and the grief of letting go of an identity you worked so hard to earn.
We also talk about something that hits close to home for a lot of us — what it means to honor your parents' sacrifices by choosing your life, not just inheriting their version of it.
This episode is for every eldest daughter who has ever felt like she couldn't stop without letting everyone down.
